As much as I respect Cheney for the courage of her convictions, she voted with Trump 90% of the time.  Gar more than Stefanik ever did.

In my opinion, Tabby, our nation's downfall did start with the Bushies. It's only because Trump was so bad that it made Jr look halfway good. Look at how better Liz Cheney now looks holding true to her oath of office. Not in a million yrs did I think that I'd appreciate anything named Cheney. 1/6 was the last straw for me. The current majority of the GOP can all go to Hell!! But, I do agree with your op that fascism and authoritarianism got a big kick start under the Bush Regime.

In the US long before Trump.  Removing our privacy, illegally invading and occupying a sovereign nation, grabbing war powers, changing retirement accounts from guaranteed banks savings account to an iffy Stock Market bid, Etc are among the examples which support my allegations.

Yes, the sign of the times ..... in Trump world. Think of all of the additional expenses during our costly pandemic being spent on protecting state capitols and cities that are targeted by the Trump crazies after a plot was uncovered that all 50 states will be targeted this weekend up thru Biden's Inauguration.... if not longer than that.

Mike DeWine said Thursday.

“The sad truth is that there are people in our country who want to turn peaceful protests into an opportunity for violence,” said DeWine, a Republican, at a news briefing. “These are violent people, and their violence will not be tolerated in Ohio.”

I'm on that same page, sd. We've seen these snakes before. A snake is a snake. Just like the Donald ..... McConnell thinks only of himself and the mega bucks that'll flow into his money stash.

It appears that there will be a Senate trial after Biden is sworn into office. I wanted one asap but it's now up to when Pelosi will send her managers over to the Senate and when Schumer will fire it up. At least McConnell will be there to speak his piece and vote or not vote. Either way, the outcome of that trial should be impeachment of Trump and hopefully, he loses his post presidency perks. It's too bad that he can pardon all the criminals that he knows.

 

I don't believe you can trust Mitch McConnell with anything...That man thought giving Americans $2000 was too much. He was another enabler for Trump the last four years. Even the ordeal with the last Supreme Court Justice was inexcusable. I have zero tolerance for GOP fascists anymore and they need to be shut down completely. Any Democrat who tries to go back to status quo or compromise is a real enemy too.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is now leaning towards voting to convict President Donald Trump to remove him from office, Axios reported on Tuesday night.

McConnell believes Trump has committed multiple impeachable offenses and is "pleased" at the idea of him being impeached, according to The New York Times.

McConnell thinks that Trump being impeached and then potentially convicted and removed from office by the US Senate "will make it easier to purge him from the party," The Times said on Tuesday
