The 10 Worst Presidents

An Update: A 2010 survey ranks Barack Obama as the 15th best president and George W. Bush among the worst.

It's too soon to judge the current one, but for past presidents, the verdict is in. U.S. News has averaged the results of five polls to make a slideshow of the worst chief executives. The years before the Civil War produced an era of failure: Six of seven presidents who served from 1841 to 1861 made the list.

One talking point that may not surface due to our extreme propaganda and media control by the Republican/NeoCon network is the creation and crusade caliphate by ISIS with the assistance of BushCo and their puppets. This will never become obvious excepted information during our lifetime.  imho

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/iraq-war-on-terror/losing-iraq/the-iraq-wars-key-players-where-are-they-now/
After Saddam was toppled, the Bush administration appointed L. Paul Bremer in May 2003 as Iraq’s top civilian administrator.

Within days of his appointment, Bremer issued Order Number 2 — a directive to dismantle the entire Iraqi army, which was predominantly Sunni. The move shocked the army, and also took U.S. commanders by surprise. “Now you have a couple hundred thousand people who are armed because they took their weapons home with them, they know how to use the weapons, who have no future and have a reason to be angry at you,” Col. Thomas Hammes told FRONTLINE.

.
.
.

Sadr’s Mahdi army repeatedly clashed with U.S. and Iraqi security forces, starting with fierce fights in Najaf in August 2004. By 2006, the Mahdi army had stormed mosques, thrown out moderate clerics and reportedly threatened the lives of [Grand Ayatollah Ali] al-Sistani and other moderate ayatollahs. Sadr’s militia was also accused of slaughtering Sunni civilians during the height of sectarian violence in 2006 and 2007.
.
.
.
“The day the Americans left [Iraq], the Sadrist militias more or less stacked their rifles, and we haven’t heard anything from them until just very recently,” said Ollivant.

Sadr returned to Iraq in 2011, as U.S. troops prepared to withdraw and the Sadrist movement made political gains. Although his party held 40 seats in Iraq’s Parliament and seven ministry positions, Sadr announced in February 2014 that he was withdrawing from politics. Observers noted at the time that Sadr has made similar pronouncements before, only to return.

The fall of Mosul and other cities to ISIS prompted mass rallies of Shia militias who called themselves the “Peace Brigades.” But analysts have suggested the new outfits are a reincarnation of Sadr’s Mahdi army, with a new name designed to distance itself from the tarnished reputation it earned in 2006 and 2007.

.
.
.

In 2003, Sistani threw U.S. plans for a rapid transfer of power into disarray when he called for direct elections. He also said Iraq’s constitution must be written by an assembly elected by Iraqis, not appointed. At the time, a New York Times article noted, “Ayatollah Sistani has been tolerant of the United States occupation and has refrained from openly criticizing the occupation authorities.”

In 2004, Sistani negotiated a truce between Sadr’s Mahdi army and U.S. and Iraqi forces fighting in Najaf. Sistani’s influence was such that Al Qaeda in Iraq’s then-leader Zarqawi called for his death in 2006.

Days after the fall of Mosul in June, Sistani called on Shia followers to take up arms to defend “the country, the citizens and the holy sites” against ISIS and its allies. He later adjusted his statement, saying the appeal “was not only about one sect.”

THE OIL WARS IN IRAQ THAT GAVE BILLIONS TO CORPORATIONS FROM THE BUSH FAMILY.

September 6, 2014 at 2:59pm

If not for former President Cheney and Vice President G.W. Bush (not a typo), interfering in Iraq by removing Sadaam Hussein from power all in the pursuit to control Iraqi oil, the situation in the Levant, Middle East and Mediterranean wouldn't be what it is now.

The military's main mission was not regime change, the protection of Iraq citizens, or securing airports, museums, mosques, government buildings, etc., their main mission was the security of the oil fields! I lost friends over the Bush's b.s. wars! Sadaam may not have had WMDs, but he kept the region balanced, because his neighbors were scared of conflicts with him. There was absolutely NO REASON to invade Iraq, but for Cheney's insane pursuit to control Middle Eastern oil via Iraq.

In turn, hundreds of corporations, including those that Cheney was formerly involved with, or had friends in directory roles as CEO, or on the board, profited billions off of Iraq related government contracts.

Houston-based energy-focused engineering and construction firm KBR, Inc. (NYSE: KBR), which was spun off from its parent, oilfield services provider Halliburton Co. (NYSE:HAL), was given over $40 billion in Iraq-related contracts over the past decade, with many of the deals given without any bidding from competing firms.

Here are examples of some of those contracts that led to the sum total of over $40 billion.

Kellogg, Brown & Root Inc. Total Dollars: $40,415,619,478

Kellogg, Brown & Root Services Incorporated and Kellogg, Brown & Root KBR, Total Dollars $47,271,969

Kellogg, Brown & Root LLC., Total Dollars $3,472,213

A $568-million contract renewal in 2010 to provide housing, meals, water and bathroom services to soldiers, was a deal that led to a Justice Department lawsuit over alleged kickbacks, and a KBR CEO being convinced and sentenced to prison.

It took President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to go after this corporation, in several lawsuits, and several other corporations, for the crimes they committed and corruption they were involved in over Iraq-related contracts. Cheney and Bush just stood by as it happened on their watch!!!

Revealed: How George W. Bush was given SEVEN warnings about threat from Bin Laden in months before 9/11

•White House given series of briefings about an Al Qaeda attack between May and August 2001 - but failed to take any significant action
•Lengthy briefs included interviews with Bin Laden aides admitting an attack with multiple casualties was 'imminent'
•Bush asked for more evidence - frustrating the CIA

•Highlights startling negligence of U.S. government before 9/11
•George Pataki, New York state governor during 9/11, lambasted claims as 'unfair and a disservice to history' and praised Bush's leadership

Former President George Bush was given a series of direct warnings throughout 2001 about the possibility of a terrorist attack by Al Qaeda - but failed to take them seriously, it was claimed today.

On the eleventh anniversary of the atrocity, it has been reported that the White House received multiple briefs between May and August that year about an attack with explosives and numerous casualties.

But the president continually failed to take any significant action and questioned the thoroughness of the briefings - leading to huge frustrations within the CIA.

The retrospective report was lambasted as 'unfair' and a 'disservice to history' by George Pataki, the New York state governor during 9/11 who praised Bush's leadership in the months after the attacks.

George W. Bush Was Warned Multiple Times About an Attack from Al Qaeda Before 9/11

Posted by Paul Constant on Mon, Sep 10, 2012 at 9:05 PM

The New York Times is dropping a bombshell, just in time for the eleventh anniversary of 9/11:

The direct warnings to Mr. Bush about the possibility of a Qaeda attack began in the spring of 2001. By May 1, the Central Intelligence Agency told the White House of a report that “a group presently in the United States” was planning a terrorist operation. Weeks later, on June 22, the daily brief reported that Qaeda strikes could be “imminent,” although intelligence suggested the time frame was flexible.

But some in the administration considered the warning to be just bluster. An intelligence official and a member of the Bush administration both told me in interviews that the neoconservative leaders who had recently assumed power at the Pentagon were warning the White House that the C.I.A. had been fooled; according to this theory, Bin Laden was merely pretending to be planning an attack to distract the administration from Saddam Hussein, whom the neoconservatives saw as a greater threat. Intelligence officials, these sources said, protested that the idea of Bin Laden, an Islamic fundamentalist, conspiring with Mr. Hussein, an Iraqi secularist, was ridiculous, but the neoconservatives’ suspicions were nevertheless carrying the day.

In response, the C.I.A. prepared an analysis that all but pleaded with the White House to accept that the danger from Bin Laden was real.

The Deafness Before the Storm

By KURT EICHENWALD

Published: September 10, 2012

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/11/opinion/the-bush-white-house-was-deaf-to-9-11-warnings.html?_r=2&

IT was perhaps the most famous presidential briefing in history.

On Aug. 6, 2001, President George W. Bush received a classified review of the threats posed by Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network, Al Qaeda. That morning’s “presidential daily brief” — the top-secret document prepared by America’s intelligence agencies — featured the now-infamous heading: “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” A few weeks later, on 9/11, Al Qaeda accomplished that goal.

On April 10, 2004, the Bush White House declassified that daily brief — and only that daily brief — in response to pressure from the 9/11 Commission, which was investigating the events leading to the attack. Administration officials dismissed the document’s significance, saying that, despite the jaw-dropping headline, it was only an assessment of Al Qaeda’s history, not a warning of the impending attack. While some critics considered that claim absurd, a close reading of the brief showed that the argument had some validity.

That is, unless it was read in conjunction with the daily briefs preceding Aug. 6, the ones the Bush administration would not release. While those documents are still not public, I have read excerpts from many of them, along with other recently declassified records, and come to an inescapable conclusion: the administration’s reaction to what Mr. Bush was told in the weeks before that infamous briefing reflected significantly more negligence than has been disclosed. In other words, the Aug. 6 document, for all of the controversy it provoked, is not nearly as shocking as the briefs that came before it.

Bush Administration Dismissed Warnings Of 9/11 Terror Attacks

September 11, 2012 | Posted by John Hollis

http://atlantablackstar.com/2012/09/11/bush-administration-dismissed-warnings-of-911-terror-attacks/

The Bush Administration fumbled the ball more than the public could ever know, and failed to connect the dots that might have prevented the most lethal terrorist attack in American history.

Or at least so says former Kurt Eichenwald in a New York Times op-ed piece that ran today to mark the 11th anniversary of the violence that left nearly 3,000 Americans dead following attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and over the skies of Pennsylvania.

Eichenwald, a former NYT reporter, cites a number of recently declassified documents which show that President George W. Bush received a number of CIA briefings warning of an imminent Al Qaeda attack on U.S. soil.

In April 2004, the administration released information about one such briefing on August 6, 2001 as per the request by the 9/11 Commission that was charged to investigate the attack.
That morning’s “presidential daily brief” — the top-secret document prepared by America’s intelligence agencies — featured the now-infamous heading: “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." The terrorist group would do just that a few weeks later.

Bush Warned of Hijackings Before 9-11

May 15

U.S. intelligence officials warned President Bush weeks before the Sept. 11 attacks that Osama bin Laden's terrorist network might hijack American planes, but White House officials stressed the threat was not specific.

A White House official acknowledged to ABCNEWS that the information prompted administration officials to issue a private warning to transportation department and national security agencies weeks before the attacks. But, the official said the threat of a hijacking by bin Laden's al Qaeda organization was general in nature, did not mention a specific time or place and was similar to the variety of different terrorist threats U.S. intelligence monitors frequently.

"There has been long-standing speculation, shared with the president, about the potential of hijackings in the traditional sense," White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said. "We had general threats involving Osama bin Laden around the world and including in the United States."

Fleischer insisted that Bush did not ignore the threats, saying that hijacking warnings were something that past White Houses have faced for decades. No one, Fleischer said, could have conceptualized what happened on Sept. 11. White House officials believed the hijackings could occur in a more traditional manner.

Two Months Before 911, A Urgent Warning To Rice

The Washington Post
Sunday, October 1, 2006
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/30/AR2006093000282.html

On July 10, 2001, two months before the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, then-CIA Director George J. Tenet met with his counterterrorism chief, J. Cofer Black, at CIA headquarters to review the latest on Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda terrorist organization. Black laid out the case, consisting of communications intercepts and other top-secret intelligence showing the increasing likelihood that al-Qaeda would soon attack the United States. It was a mass of fragments and dots that nonetheless made a compelling case, so compelling to Tenet that he decided he and Black should go to the White House immediately.

Tenet called Condoleezza Rice, then national security adviser, from the car and said he needed to see her right away. There was no practical way she could refuse such a request from the CIA director.

For months, Tenet had been pressing Rice to set a clear counterterrorism policy, including specific presidential orders called "findings" that would give the CIA stronger authority to conduct covert action against bin Laden. Perhaps a dramatic appearance -- Black called it an "out of cycle" session, beyond Tenet's regular weekly meeting with Rice -- would get her attention.

Tenet had been losing sleep over the recent intelligence he'd seen. There was no conclusive, smoking-gun intelligence, but there was such a huge volume of data that an intelligence officer's instinct strongly suggested that something was coming. He and Black hoped to convey the depth of their anxiety and get Rice to kick-start the government into immediate action.

NY Times reporter: Bush White House didn't listen to 9/11 warnings

(CBS News) Eleven years after the 9/11 attacks, there is new information on what the George W. Bush administration knew about al-Qaeda's plans.

We learned after 9/11 that a presidential briefing paper in August 2001 was headlined "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S."

But Tuesday in the New York Times, investigative reporter Kurt Eichenwald says the White House received ominous warnings as early as May 2001.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/11/opinion/the-bush-white-house-was-deaf-to-9-11-warnings.html?_r=2&adxnnl=1&src=twr&adxnnlx=1413087327-HIbMkTmZ3c9Ku4eV3I1aXg

CBS News spoke with Eichenwald Monday. He said, "What I've been able to see are the presidential daily briefs before August 6 of 2001. And they're horrific, and they are - our reports are 'an attack is coming,' 'there are going to be mass casualties.' The worst of them, the Pentagon, the neo-conservatives at the Pentagon, as the CIA was coming in saying, 'al-Qaeda's going to attack,' said, 'Oh, this is just a false flag operation. Bin laden is trying to take our attention off of the real threat, Iraq.' And so there are presidential daily briefs that are literally saying, 'No they're wrong, this isn't fake, it's real.'"

"CBS This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell said, "Then when a lot of people hear this, aren't they going to say, 'This is another example of where, not just the Bush administration, but our intelligence community dropped the ball. They failed to heed the warnings that were in a number of these (documents) that went all the way up to the president of the United States.'"

Eichenwald replied, "Actually, the counterterrorist center of the CIA did a spectacular job, and that's what really comes down. You know, in the aftermath, the White House and others said, 'Well they didn't tell us enough.' No, they told them everything they needed to know to go on a full alert and the White House didn't do it."
