Medicare is stronger, Medicaid is bigger, pre-existing conditions no longer take away coverage, and the millions of newly insured Americans have reduced the percentage of uninsured Americans by a big chunk.

Thanks, Obama!

For some reason that I fail to understand, Tony, you seem to be blaming President Obama, and the Affordable Care Act, for the actions of that private insurance industry that Republicans and conservatives are hell-bent on giving free reign to.  The president isn't raising any rates.  The ACA isn't, in any way, forcing insurance companies to raise rates.  Rather the health insurance industry, reveling in the fact that people are required to have health insurance, regardless of how much those companies raise their rates, are singing the praises of the congressional Republicans, which stripped the ACA of pretty much all consumer controls.  The Republicans got pretty much everything they wanted, in the ACA (sell across state lines, everyone has to buy insurance, no "public option" to compete with, etc.), and still blame the president for their "accomplishment".

It's too bad "honor" and "integrity" are archaic, obsolete concepts, these days.  But, then, that's what provides the Republican Party with an atmosphere wherein they can thrive -- or, so they had hoped.  November 8 will reveal just how much "thriving" they'll be doing.

Uhhhh what did Bill Clinton say about obamacare? Nuff said. By the way, at one time democrats were saying that there were 42 million without healthcare. What is that number now figuring that many folks lost their healthcare and HAD to sign up on obamacare. More liberal lies?

Yeah Tony just like the many thousands of people in WVa that would rather get free help from DHHR..they don't want to pay anything, even if it is affordable..and people that didn't want to take the time to fill out the paperwork etc etc..other people in other states are same way..want something for nothing..
And I can't believe that you trust breitbart as your main news source...I mean Really Tony?

The Republicans fought tusk and nail to make it less affordable than the Democrats wanted. What did you expect?

The Republicans don't give a tinkers damn about the affordability of healthcare or they would have tried to do something about it a long time ago. Propagandist Rush Limbaugh makes 30 million dollars a year. Why would he? Apparently Don Trump is extremely wealthy. Notice he doesnt say a whole lot about how he would reduce the costs of healthcare?  Ted Kennedy was hated for more than Chappaquiddick. He wanted the American people to have affordable heathcare as far back as the early 1970's. Republicans thought the Vietnam War and the Cold War were more important. We had our chances a long time ago and they didn't want it then and I believe they don't want it now. They don't give a tinkers damn.

Yah, it's too bad the Donald didn't sign up his campaign for Obamacare.  From what I see, it's on its last legs, & will shortly give up the ghost.  & the endorsements & funding are drying up, the partisans are having - remarkably - their very own On the road to Damascus moments, as the scales (& the snake? - perhaps just his oil) fall from their eyes.

I'm reminded of a Giuliani campaign cartoon - during his campaign for the senate from NY (against H. Clinton).  The caption was "The Giuliani campaign catches fire", & it showed the Hindenburg with the label Giuliani mimicking the iconic photo of the Zeppelin in flames & crashing.  I can't find it - apparently Giuliani has generated a lot of cartoons over the years.  But it's a gem.

There ya go Tony...Breibart is not a real news source..they are the crazy rightwing tea party hate groups, and hate all Democrats cause they are sore losers that want to destroy us, that hate people of color which also cover the people living here from other countries,..BTW we wouldn't have hardly any doctors and specialist in the US..especially here where we live. And everyone knows that many racists live in the US..and the crazy hate groups, tea party and the such..most republicans are bad but there are some that have seen the light now because of the likes of Trump and the hate he has for people of color and all foreigners..Thing is America has a lot of people from everywhere, and many Americans live in other countries by choice. Also America was taken over (So called settlers from everywhere came here and killed the Indians and this was their country) So now Trump wants to get rid of the people here of their choosing? Wow so original ya think? Yeah I ended up off topic because I addressed Breitbart first..below is answer about the healthcare that Obama got passed for people who didn't have it or couldn't afford it.It was a good thing that the repulicans also passed after they made changes to it.

But Obamcare is great and people finally have affordable healthcare thanks to President Obama...Insurance companies keep raising their rates up more and more all the time..Who can afford that Tony? Bet you are jealous of Obamacare cause you pay high rates for your insurance.

It isn't the administration - or the Affordable Care Act - that keeps raising insurance rates.  It's insurance companies.  Insurance companies who realize that people are required to buy health insurance, regardless of what insurance companies charge.

That's your "market forces" at work, Tony.  That's your unrestrained capitalism.  Take advantage of peoples' hardships, to increase profits.  That's what business does.  That's what it exists for.  And, without societal (government) controls, that's exactly what it's going to do.  This pie-in-the-sky idea that "... competition will force prices down" is pure bullshit.  These companies all realize that, as long as they all keep premiums high, they all rake the profits in.  They all know that, if one of them tries to gain market share by lowering premiums, the rest will also have to lower premiums, and they'll all suffer.  They know that the tide raises all ships, or lowers all ships, together.  After all, the chairmen and CEO's of many of the major insurance companies, sit on the boards of directors of their direct competitors.

And, what's the Republican solution?  Well, the centerpiece is to "... allow insurance companies to sell across state lines".

They can do that, now.  All they have to do, is agree to abide by state laws and regulations.  They can then be licensed to sell insurance in that state.  So, what's their problem?

They don't want to have to abide by state laws and regulations. If those laws and regulations are stricter in, say, Wisconsin, than they are in Connecticut, they want to register as being based in Connecticut, and only have to meet those lower standards.  And, they know that state governments - especially Republican-led state governments - will have a race to the bottom, to see who can lower their standards the most, to attract these companies to their state.  (They'll promote the additional jobs and taxes from these businesses, while deemphasizing what it's doing to the quality of care that will result.)

And, the other Republican healthcare solution I've heard about?  Well, it's "health savings accounts", of course.  These tax-free accounts will, supposedly, provide a source from which to pay the increased premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and denied costs, once the insurance companies are released from the control of the state insurance commissions (see above).  There is one aspect of these "accounts", that I still have some trouble understanding.  If a family is living paycheck-to-paycheck, having to juggle whether to buy groceries or pay the rent, each month ............ where are they supposed to get the money to put in a "health savings account"?  Or, is this just another typical Republican solution that only benefits the "haves", and leaves the "have-not's" out to die?

So, what's your answer Tony?  Do you - or your Republican handlers - have any practical solutions to the healthcare crisis. that doesn't only benefit the wealthy?  Should the poor be just cast out to die, so that then we won't have to worry about them, any more?  Is that the Republican solution?

This post isn't sarcasm, Tony.  I really want to know the answers to these questions.

And, I'm sure not getting them from the Republicans running for office.
