"unresolved"
and if it comes down to where the US stands between Israel and Palestine in this UN vote. I have a pretty good idea how that vote will go.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-israel-un-palestinians/palestinians-may-seek-u-n-assembly-support-if-u-s-vetoes-jerusalem-resolution-envoy-idUSKBN1EC17L
DUBAI (Reuters) - The Palestinian leadership may turn to the U.N. General Assembly if Washington vetoes a draft U.N. Security Council resolution to reaffirm Jerusalem’s status as unresolved, after President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize it as Israel’s capital.
The Palestinian United Nations envoy raised this option in remarks published in Saudi daily Arab News on Monday, ahead of a Security Council vote on an Egyptian-drafted resolution about Jerusalem’s status which the United States is expected to veto.

It seems as though Trump is trying to appease the End Timers who are the only ones who wanted this. How do we extract such a religious cult from our nation?

Yah. Of course, this (Trump's decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem) means that the US is done as an intermediary between the state of Israel & Islam, the Palestinians in particular.
Does the clock tick a minute closer to midnight?

Well, seems ol' Trumper has allowed the Pentagon to run the wars and we have been on the ground in Yemen doing Saudi Arabia's work for months now.
How is this man not impeached? Congress should have to declare war. Anyone else as disgusted with the democrats are well as the republicans?

The President of the United States (whomever it may be, at the time) has, officially, had war powers since 1951. He was granted war powers during the Korean War -- a war that has never ended. There's never been a peace treaty -- just a truce. Technically, we're still at war, there, so the war powers were never rescinded.
Such war powers were exercised in such places as VietNam, Grenada, Panama, and Kuwait, among other, even lesser forays, in which congress never formally declared war. Since Korea, the closest we've come, to a declared war, was the invasion of Iraq.

So, he can transfer his responsibility and Congress's responsibility of invading a nation or calling for it and give it to the Generals in the Pentagon?

Wowser! So if Kim Jong-un really & truly wanted to mess up the Trump's plans for the World (such as they are), all he has to do is sign a peace agreement with the US & S. Korea? That would be epic. One can hardly wait.

We wouldn't even need the peace treaty, as I understand. Congress can vote to repeal the war powers, at any time. But, unless and until Democrats and Independents drastically change the balance of power, don't bet on it happening, in the near future.
Y'see, war powers includes other things, besides sending troops around the place. War powers is what gives the president the power to declare martial law. It enables him to suspend habeus corpus -- remember all the people imprisoned at Gitmo, without charges (some are still there)? War powers enables the president to nationalize at least some industries. There's a lot more, but I think I hit the major points.
They weren't seen as being a major threat -- up until now. With such a loose cannon in the White House, who knows what's coming?

Yah, ever since
W
, I believe that the current incarnage of the GOP just doesn't have time nor energy nor (frankly - Frank-ly? the inclination, God bless 'em) to waste on diplomacy. It's the steel fist all the time, baby, & skip the velvet glove.
The State Dept. under the GOP is a pathetic thing, stripped of budget, personnel, priority, banished to the kiddy table (or perhaps the crying room - but that smacks too much of the Wailing Wall - also a sore point these decades, & forever & ever, World without [hopefully] end). There was a time when the DOS meant something - now it's the US military warlords, & their areas of responsibility - Africa was the last to be stood up, but currently it's vying with the Asiatic Middle East for all the guts 'n' glory. Watch carefully who gets full diplomatic honors when they deign to pay a visit to the outlands & the barbarians therein - it's never the accredited diplomats, it's always the US military panjandrums.

'We will remember': Haley warns UN

I was caught off guard with the UN response to the US and Israel. I mean, holy thump, only 7 other tiny countries (altho Canada ISN'T tiny)voted with the US + Israel!! Then, B**** Haley gets up to the mike and basically threatens all the ones who voted it down and the UN itself. Sooooo ..... in a flash, the US has pretty much isolated itself from the rest of the world thanks to Haley. Pence and Trump sooooo need to be impeached before we all 'splat' to the ground. Good job
Brownie
Trump/Haley.

'We will remember': Haley warns UN after vote to condemn US decision on Jerusalem
By EDITH M. LEDERER
The U.N. General Assembly voted 128-9 with 35 abstentions on Thursday in favor of a nonbinding resolution declaring President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital “null and void,” a smaller margin than the Palestinians hoped for but also a rebuke to the Trump administration which is threatening to cut funding for those who voted “yes.”
.
.
But when it came to the vote, major U.S. aid recipients including Egypt, Afghanistan and Iraq ignored Trump’s threat and supported the resolution
.
.
.
It is also noteworthy that 21 of the 193 U.N. member states were absent for the vote including Kenya, Georgia and Ukraine which have close U.S. ties.
.
.
.“The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very right of exercising our right as a sovereign nation,” she said.

Sad part is, this was just a nonbinding resolution. They were just letting Trump know they did not agree with his statement to allow Jerusalem to be the capitol of Israel. Trump is trying to find more money for himself and his kids.l He figures he can get a lot cutting back on helping the world. He's such a dick. This is not his money.
